Michelle Dexter, Ph.D. — Director of Training

Michelle Dexter, Ph.D. is a Diplomate and certified member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and Board Member of the National Social Anxiety Center. Dr. Dexter is the Director of Training at Behavioral Associates, Los Angeles. She received her master’s in physiology and biophysics at USC and received a master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology from an APA-Accredited program at California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles.

Dr. Dexter is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at USC. She also provides supervision and training for psychiatry residents at UCLA as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA. Her clinical experience included working with graduate and undergraduate students at UCLA, USC, and Loyola Marymount University. She also worked in inpatient and outpatient settings at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where she was extensively trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Dr. Dexter has experience skillfully implementing a variety of empirically-supported treatments to a broad range of clients. She specializes in utilizing ACT, CBT, CBASP, CPT, DBT, EX/RP, and Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP) in both individual and group settings. Her clinical areas of expertise include working with individuals who present with anxiety, OCD, and mood disorders.
