Christopher Nuñez, Ph.D. – Associate

Dr. Christopher Nuñez is a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist licensed in California (PSY23631) and Hawai’i (PSY1819).  He specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy with children, adolescents, and adults and has extensive experience treating anxiety disorders, OCD, and depression.  He emphasizesnunez evidence-based treatments such as exposure with response prevention (ERP), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and the Unified Protocol.

Dr. Nuñez obtained his doctorate in clinical psychology at Fordham University and completed an APA-accredited internship in Adolescent Medicine at the USC Keck School of Medicine, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  He also completed a post-doctoral residency in Neuropsychology-Medical Psychology at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, as well as a post-doctoral fellowship in developmental neuroscience in the Laboratory of Neuroimaging, UCLA Department of Neurology.  In addition, he worked as a behavioral and neuroimaging researcher, studying typically developing and cognitively impaired children and older adults experiencing cognitive decline.  He previously trained and supervised pre- and post-doctoral students in the UCLA Psychiatry and Psychology departments.  His therapy style is compassionate and warm while remaining focused on science-based treatment.primarily focuses on how social anxiety disorder develops and how we can improve treatments for it.
